San Francisco to Morro Bay

After leaving San Francisco we made our first stop at Half Moon Bay. Cute little harbor but loads of flies! We anchored for the night and left early the next day for Monterey. What can we say about Monterey? Not protected from the northwest swell, many stinky & loud sea lions. We anchored for 2 nights and felt like we were in a washing machine. The last night we reserved a slip and refreshed our supplies. We walked around the town a bit and found 2 great lunch spots.

From Monterey we did an overnighter to Morro Bay. It was a quiet night, pitch black with a little fog. We motored into Morro Bay around 7am just as it was getting light and found a good anchorage spot. We then headed to land to see what the local yacht club had to offer. Morro Bay is a little gem, the people were so kind and interested in what we were doing. We ended up docking at the Morro Bay Yacht Club for 1 night and they invited us to their weekly happy hour. We met so many fun people and they served us dinner! Later in the evening as we were admiring the amazing sunset from the yacht club (see photos) a sailboat came into the harbor and moored right across from the club. As we looked a little closer we realized this sailboat (the Arctic Raven) was one of the boats we toured the same weekend we saw Amelie in Seattle. The Saga 46 - Arctic Raven was #2 on our list of boats we were considering. The new owners Matt & Anne ended up coming into the yacht club and we had many stories to share.

A big highlight of our time in Morro Bay were the otters, they were everywhere and darn cute. Amy was lucky enough to get a closeup picture of one, enjoy!

We will miss you Morro Bay.
